The ”1934” Model combines the popular Fults Mounting System
and the Traditional Presto Head with outstanding upgrades.
The all new "34Parallel Thin Line" Model (a first cousin to our Traditional 1934 series)
features a string geometry in which the 5 strings approach the bridge parallel to each other.
This geometry gives equal downward pressure across the entire bridge from each string.
All these newly developed tailpieces are all Handcrafted to perfection.
Each model is identified by the series of mount you choose.
All are easily installed and adjustable without removing the resonator.

Cumberland models: Head weighs 2.8 oz. This model was designed for a hard driving banjo. It has less mass with no moving parts and has a quick response, so hang on. The banjo neck will vibrate like you’ve never felt before and delivers an unbelievable vibe tone. It has a thin leaded nose tip for filtering out overtones. We have extended and milled out leaded channels for pulling out that deep rich 4th string. The third string is slotted for quick string replacement. This model fits well with any banjo with it’s traditional look, sleek looking curved back and lower brass string attachments.
Blue Ridge models: Head weighs 3.0 oz. It has a thin leaded nose tip for filtering out overtones and a slotted third string. This model was designed for a hard driving banjo with it’s large flat lower torque-pins, spiked head, and an extra wide vertical supporting strut. This model will accept optional tone-pins but does sound great without them. This is a kicker.
1934 models: Head weighs in at 2.5 Oz. It is designed for the player who wants to hear the tonal essence that the Presto style tailpiece produces, but it has significant improvements over the traditional design. Manufactured using a modified style Presto tailpiece, we have riveted the top cover to eliminate buzz, strengthened the right angle bend with a combination of small brass and high carbon steel rods. This gives the brightness in tone while adding the harmonics that all the traditionalists immediately recognize. It also has a great range of adjustability with the Fults mounting system. The Fults 1934 Tailpiece has raised the bar, providing a "Presto type" sound but with more sustain, volume, bass, and tailpiece stability. Any fan of the traditional Presto Tailpiece should be able to "dial in" a setting that would give a pleasing sound.
34Parallel models: Fults 34Parallel “Thin Line” 3 oz. Model. This new banjo tailpiece features a string geometry in which the 5 strings approach the bridge parallel to each other, instead of fanning out as they go from the tailpiece to the bridge. This geometry has several positive attributes including: equal downward pressure across the entire bridge from each string; increased lateral bridge stability; bridge has less of a tendency to sag. We have newly designed string anchors for quick string replacement. The 90 degree bend has reinforcing brass reeds that generate great harmonics. The cover lid is riveted on to eliminate rattle or buzz. There have been tailpieces that featured similar type geometry, but none which also produced the Presto type sound favored by many players. The 34Parallel has that "Presto sound". The sound is both clean, with sparkling treble and full bass, and complex (with the pleasing overtones associated with the Presto but with added clarity and just a bit more sustain). In addition to its great tone, of course there is the full range of vertical adjustability found in all Fults tailpieces. Now players can get the best of both worlds - a tailpiece with parallel geometry and a super charged Presto sound. The 34Parallel is not a high production item. Each tailpiece is individually hand crafted, bent and hammered into shape with precision forming dies. As in all our models, we use the highest grade of brass – selected for its tonal properties. Our goal has always been to produce the very best.

Tone Pins: Optional on the Blue Ridge Models only. This technique consists of pre-loading tone-pins (under pressure) against the tension hoop. Tone-pins of bone, ebony, ivory, brass, stainless steel, high carbon steel are available. Sustained & decaying vibe tones can be produced.
Tone pins add mass to the tailpiece but also the softer materials like bone or ebony gives a bright but yet a quicker decaying sound. Working on up through brass (more mellow) stainless steel (little brighter) and High carbon steel (brighter). Tone pins are fun & easy to work with. With tone pins out you will get a little more sustained sound
Kicker Pins: Optional on the Blue Ridge Models only. Kicker pins add a verity of different vibe tones to the banjo by adding mass to the tailpiece of different densities. Kicker Pins are shorter and quite different than Tone Pins in that they are all metal and do not touch the tension hoop. Either Kicker Pins & Tone Pins can be used to mix-match for tweaking your banjo to it’s highest level you desire in getting a deeper , sharper, sustain or decaying tones.
Mounting System: The F20 & F30 mounting system clamps directly to the standard 24 bracket head
(1 11/16” inside measurements)
and will interchange with all four of our models,
Blue Ridge, Cumberland, 1934 and 34Parallel heads.
The Fults mounting system produce a kickback like no other.
These vibe tones are all controllable by your choice of head, technique and fine adjustments.
#F20 Geared Mount: Has the slide-lock height adjustment plus an additional twist pre-lock fine adjustment. Height adjustments can be made and locked in place to a fraction of a degree.
#F30 Geared Mount: Has the slide-lock height adjustment plus an additional twist friction-lock fine adjustment. These operate much like your tuning pegs (with adjustable leather friction).
This model is great when practicing to a CD, pitch tuning is done very quick & easy.
