The 1934 model:The Fults 1934 Banjo Tailpiece head weighs in at 2.5 Oz.
It is designed for the player who wants to hear the tonal essence that the Presto style tailpiece produces, but it has significant improvements over the traditional design.
Manufactured using a modified style Presto tailpiece, we have riveted the top cover to eliminate buzz, strengthened the right angle bend with a combination of small brass and high carbon steel rods. This gives the brightness in tone while adding the harmonics that all the traditionalists immediately recognize. It also has a great range of adjustability with the Fults mounting system (See Mounting System) .
The Fults 1934 Tailpiece has raised the bar, providing a "Presto type" sound but with more sustain, volume, bass, and tailpiece stability. Any fan of the traditional Presto Tailpiece should be able to "dial in" a setting that would give a pleasing sound.
The traditional bluegrass sound is in the Fults 1934 Tailpiece.
I would like to thank Peter Schwimmer, Silvio Ferretti and Charlie Cushman
for all their professional help in this 1934 project.
